Under the hood, there's a neural network that's learned to generate rhythms and enhance them through expressive dynamics and timing. Several parameters in the engine pane allow you to customize the neural engine's behavior to shape the level of precision, complexity, and randomness that you desire.
Interactive Pattern Matrix
The pattern matrix is the visual interface for controlling and visualizing the currently playing rhythm. It's fully interactive meaning you can use the pattern matrix to program entire patterns, modify single notes, or simply visualize the patterns generated by the neural engine in real-time. To promote maximum pattern transparency, there are nine rows in the pattern matrix, each one representing an instrument in a nine-piece drum kit.
Syncopation Control
Modulate the rhythms in different ways depending on your production style. The density dial lets you set the the complexity of the rhythms generated by the neural engine. Together with a number of different sync modes, you can keep close control over when and how to generate a new rhythm.
Expression
Although the neural engine has a good idea of what groove might fit your rhythm, Regroove still leaves you in control over the microtiming and dynamics via the global expression parameters.
If you want to fine-tune the behavior of a specific drum head, you can dig into the detail view. Here you can visualize the velocity and microtiming of each note, set the the output MIDI, and turn sync on/off for this instrument. Lastly, you can make modifications to the velocity and timing of a specific instrument to fully customize your groove!
